Timmur here. Love can have many meanings to it. For example, you can love your kids, you can love your spouse, or you can love pizza. There are probably infinite definitions to love, but the ones I can define are probably seen in those three examples. When you love your kids, you have a force of care so powerful within you that you would give your life for them, and this type of love is there (hopefully) always and forever. When you love your spouse, the love that is there most likely grew from a lesser feeling for them. It is the kind of love that involves both physical and emotional attraction, but it may also grow into the same type of unconditional love you have for your children. Lastly, when you love pizza, you probably love it because of specific traits it has. Loving objects (at least in this western world) is not as stressed as loving a family member, but saying you do love a thing is like saying it would make you happy.
Love is something that has many meanings, like Timmur said. There are different levels and types of it. "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing" is the title of a song, movie, and soap opera. The title says that love has many meanings. When you love someone or something, it tends to be something that makes you happy. Other times, when you love family or friends, it means you care a lot for them.
Love is not only an emotion of deep affection for another human being (or in some cases, an animal or inanimate object), but also a force which pulls people together. When someone loves another, whether it be a family member, a partner, or a best friend, they usually feel a strong need to be with or near that person. Being with that person will most likely bring joy to the lover. Love also often includes a hope and desire to make the loved one happy and safe.
I think that Timmur pretty much sumed up what the defination of love is. There are many diffrent ways to love something or someone, and like Martine said its a lot more than just an affection or emotion, its also a force that pulls people together. There are many diffrent things to love, you can love almost everything, but there diffrent levels of love.
Love is a big word. Its when you accept not only someones perfections, but there flaws also. Its when you never want to be seperated from that one special person. When you would do anything to be with and to protect them. When noone comes in between the both of you. When things get rough and you always have that one person that will be on your side, and will comfort you. Love, is not only a strong affection towards someone, its when you cant get someone out of your mind and theres nothing you want more than to be with that one person. You put their happiness ahead of yours. Whether its the love of a partner, a best freind, or a family member, its all the same.
Love has different meaning as many people already said. You can love a pet or an inanimate object and you can love your family and friends. There are different levels of love from loving things to loving people. But when you love a person, I think it means that you put aside that person's flaws because they don't matter as much to you. If you love someone, you would do anything for them, even putting their happiness before your own. As you've probably seen in movies and read in books, sometimes you have to let the people you love go because you want them to be happy even if it means they aren't in your life anymore. Sometimes you can't pick and choose who you fall in love with. It just happens. Something might spark or a connection might be made, but you just can't fight it. Being with someone you love makes you happy. You and someone you love are their for each other no matter what, ups or downs. They are the people you can count on. No matter what or who you love, they always have a speical place in your heart.
Love has many different meanings. In the dictionary love means a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. But it can also mean many other things. You could love someone that is your best friend and not love them in the way you love your boyfriend. Love is a very strong word and should be used only when extremely passionate for someone or something, but it has so many different meanings that you can use it in multiple situations. I think love can be when you like a person way too much, or when you care about someone in a way that you would die if something happened to them. Love is a big word and has many different definitions.
Well according to Dictionary.com, the verb love is "to have a profoundly tender, affection for". But as many other people have been saying, I think that there are many different definitions and types of love. There's the kind of love you have for your parents and friends, the kind of love you have for an activity or object, and the love you feel towards the person that you're attracted to. All of these feelings of affection are similar but different, yet still have the same word describing them (Personally, I don't think that we should say we 'love' food because it's totally different then saying you 'love' your parents). However, true love should be the feeling you get when you're with someone, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. It should be that you would do anything for that person, maybe even risk your life for them. True love should be caring for each other eternally, and not caring what others think of your love. It's about sticking together, supporting them, and always being there.
Love is a feeling. It's the sensation you get when you see someone you care for. It makes you happy. When you're in love, you feel like you're on top of the world or like a million bucks. You feel like no one can hurt you and all that you need is that other person. When you love someone, you feel as though you would do anything for them. Sometimes love can be seen as a magnificent thing and sometimes it can be a not-so-magnificent thing for us. It can make you feel safe and cared for, or it can trap you and lock you in before you even realize that you've lost other things that once were important to you. Altogether, love is a wonderful yet dangerous thing, and we all experience it at one time or another in our lives.
The dictionary definition of love has three definitions and they are as follows: 1. a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. 2. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend. 3. sexual passion or desire. In my mind these are the pretty accurate on defining love. Love in my own words would have to be a strong passion and desire of another person, place, or item. I agree with the first definition, because i think love has to be a very strong, and passionate affection. I also think that love has two sides to it. I think that love occurs when two people have strong affections for each other. That is when love is formed. It can't just be a one way attraction. I also agree with the second definition because it is pretty much exactly the same as the first one. I disagree with the third definition because I do not think that love has to be a sexual passion or desire. There can be love between two people, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a sexual attraction. That is what I think the definition of love is.
Kaylee Pavao: I believe love has many different definitions. To reiterate what Timmur said, you can love people, places, or inanimate objects. Love is a feeling that is deep within you. But to love a person, such as a husband or wife or girl/boyfriend or friend (someone whose not blood related), you have to be willing to put their needs before yours. You need to trust them, and care about them, and be willing to do anything for them. To be in love, you need to know that person, know their flaws and personality, and lifestyle. You can't fall in love at first sight, thats lust. Love is when you see that one special person and it fills your stomach with butterflies. Its when you go to bed thinking of them and wake up with them on your mind. Its when you can't picture yourself without that other person. Love is something everyone discovers at least once in their lifetime, probably even more than that. Love is when you're happy. This is the best way I can describe love, but I don't think anyone can describe it perfectly. Its like describing the color blue to a blind person or how a bark sounds to a deaf person. No one can truely know what love is until they experience it for themselves. All in all, love is an amazing feeling that everyone deserves the chance to discover.
It is virtually impossible to describe love accurately because all individuals have different perceptions of love. I define love as a combination of several emotions and virtues that differ depending upon the individual. I consider love a combination of loyalty, honesty, integrity, affection, and a thorough understanding of the object being loved. Love exists within society in several variations; however, the majority of American citizens consider love affection for a specific person or multiple people. Avarice—a love of wealth is a common variation of love, but is perceived as immoral and selfish. Materialism and lust should not be mistaken for genuine love; an insatiable desire to obtain possessions cannot be considered love, nor can a person’s desire to indulge in the pleasures of the flesh be considered love. Worshippers of certain religions also experience a love for a divine figure—a god or goddess. People frequently state that they ‘love’ a certain activity or object; however, the term love in this context is used to express enjoyment, not affection.
Romantic love is when you feel something beyond anything you feel with anybody else. You could not possibly imagine the feeling you have with anyone other than the one you love. You would do anything for them. When you see them, you automatically feel nervous and self-concious about how you look. If you have a conversation with them, later on you will replay it in you mind to see any places where you could have looked like less of an idiot. These are most of the feelings involved with romantic love that define what it is. There are other types of love to, like Brodie said. Family love is where you love your friends and family and also would do anything for them but you wouldn't want to marry them. There is divine love, where you love your God or gods in religion. There is love, where it is more of an enjoyment of something, like, "I love chocolate," and avarice falls into this column.
I agree with Timmur that there are many different kinds of love and different levels of its intensity. No matter if it's romantic or family, if you really love someone, you have to understand who they are and accept everything good and bad about them. You have to be able to care about them and always be there for them, and be devoted to them. Sometimes things can get in the way love like anger or something bad happening, but in the end if you really care about them you can work through it and in the end you still love them the same. I don't think you can really love an innanimate object unless there is sentimental value to it. If you love a material thing than that's just blocking you from what really matters in life and that's the people that love you in your family, your friends, and romantically. I think love is something that has different levels of intensity and always has an affect on your life.
Love to me is when someone finds someone or something that the become extremely passionate for. Obviously an object cant love you back but when to people or animals feel this deep compasion for each other this is true love. This is what true love is to me.
Love it the passion one person feels for another. It is how one person cares about another more than they care about others. It is how they put eachother above others in their lives.
To me, it depends on what kind of love you are experiencing to give a definition of love. In the case of romantic love with another person, I think that it is a deep passion that one person has for another, where they would go out of their way for them, and can sometimes be blind to the rest of the world other than the other person. They care about that other person more than anything else in the world, and would go out of their way for them to assure happiness. In the case of love with a family member, I think it is having unconditional love for them, and making sure you are always there for them. Like Alexandra said, love can be a dangerous thing. Still, it is an experience that everyone should feel.
Love doesn't have just one definition, just like everyone else said. It's different for everyone. You feel a different type of love for each person in your life. To me, love in general is wanting to be around the person you feel that way for no matter what. You know their flaws, but you don't care. You never get tired of talking or spending time with the person and you can't imagine your life without them. If you love someone romantically, you want to spend the rest of your life with them and even if you don't like everything about them, you still find them attractive. A family type of love is if you have affection for someone in a brotherly/sisterly or whatever other family member type of way. You feel protective of them and wouldn't ever want anyone to hurt them. Whatever type of love you feel for someone, you know you're going to be there for them no matter what and you would hope they'd feel the same way about you.
Although love is in the dictionary there is no set in stone definition of it. Love is whatever you interpret it as. I see love as the strongest most passionate emotion someone could fell towards another person. This feeling as I imagine it is that you can’t get someone or something out of your mind and you would do anything to be with. Romeo and Juliet is a perfect example of love because they would give up anything (including their family) to be together. However I think in our generation we toss around the word love too much. Like when someone tells another person they love them they don’t truly understand what they’re saying. They’re saying that they can’t stop thinking about the person and they want to be with the person all the time. That’s how I feel on love.
The dictionary definition of love is: a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. But it can also mean: a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend. It all depends on the kind of person they are. A guy would probably say that if a girl is hot they're in love. To a girl it's usually more complex. To me, love means the person is irreplaceable. You've never loved anyone more than you've love them. They would mean the world to me and like Bruno Mars said: "I'd still catch a grenade for you". Love should be something that is indescribeable.
As many have said, love is such a complex term, used often to express feelings towards many different things. Love is hard to define, for it has so many meanings depending on what context it is being used in. The general idea of love though, is when you feel very strongly and passionate about something or someone. When you are in love with a person, it means they bring you happiness. They're the one you think about your whole day and just one look into their eyes brings a smile to your face. It's the one you wake up and get ready for in the morning just to impress. But it wouldn't matter to them how you look anyways because loving someone isn't about that. They would look past all your flaws, and recognize you as being perfect. Although love may be experienced regularly, it is still very rare so when it comes along it should not be overlooked. Love is strong, powerful emotions and feelings that can't compare to anything.
There are many meanings for love.(As the whole class has said) In my mind, love is when two people are affectionate for one another. Love is about two people not wanting to be away from one another and the person your in love with being irreplaceable.
Even though the whole class has already said it there are many different meanings for love. People love many things. You always hear people saying they love their phone or they love ice cream or they love a sports team. But there is a limit to this love.Real true love is when there are two people who would do anything for each other and even die together.
I don't think love is really something you can define. Obviously I'm to young to have known true love.. But I love my parents and my family and my friends and that's a type of love that I imagine is different then true love. The kind of love I know is caring deeply about someone, appreciating them for who they are, and being compassionate towards them. Although I don't love them in a romantic way I would do anything for them and they would do the same for me. Romantic love is something quite similar, it would have all the characteristics I mentioned but thee would be something more. The dictionary definition if love has two separate interpretations. The first is Passionate affection and the second a strong personal likeing. Two totally different things, one about a romantic relationship and one about a love you feel towards family and friends like I mentioned before. So no I can't really give a one sentence definition of what love is but i can say that it's something much deeper than what can be typed on a blog.
Love is a feeling that you can feel for only one person. It's a feeling you can't describe in words. It's what you feel. Along with what you feel it's the bond and friendship you share. You need to have a stable relationship to feel in love. You love your parents and siblings because of the good times spent with them. When you are in love you love because of the good times spent together, the feelings shared, and the feeling of trust between you. Love can change your life in good ways and bad. Love will help you to better under stand the world around you because you're not only getting your opinion. Yes you have friends and family with different views, but when you are truly in love with someone, you can see the world through their eyes. When you are in love, true love you will make some sacrifices that you normally wouldn't. You would do anything for that one person to keep them happy.

ReplyDeleteThe dictionary definition if love has two separate interpretations.

ReplyDeleteLove is a feeling that you can feel for only one person.
