Well on Friday I didn’t really learn anything. We watched that movie with Amanda Bynes. On Thursday I learned how to annotate better. When we got our act 3 annotations back a couple of comments I had on my paper was that I didn’t have enough connections. I had connections to other parts of the text but no connections to myself or the world. So I had to go back and make some. Also I didn’t have any questions in my original annotations. I implied some questions but never actually asked them. So I had to go back and add a couple. The only thing I really learned on Friday was that there is something missing in the Romeo and Juliet movie and that Amanda Bynes can’t act.

  2. On Friday, we watched the movie She's the Man which happens to be one of my most favorite movies so I had a ton of fun watching that and can't wait to finish this. Also I am very interested to read Twelvth Night to compare and contrast the two. I never knew that She's the Man was based on one of Shakespares plays. If the play is anything like the movie I am sure it will be great!

  3. On Friday we watched She's the Man, which was really fun because it's so funny, we got to watch a movie on a Friday, and Channing Tatum is really hot. Also, we found out that we were going to be reading the Twelfth Night and comparing it to She's the Man. I think that's going to be fun, even though I'd never heard of that play before you told us it was one of Shakespeare's. We also found out that our other two annotations were going to be due soon. Overall, it was a good class. It was stress free and fun.
P.S... I forgot to hand in my annotation for Act III, so I can't really reflect on the feedback for it, but I'll hand it in on Tuesday.

On friday, we watched 'She's the man', a modern adaptation of Shakespeare's 'Twelfth night'. As many know, its one of my faovrite movies because Channing Tatum takes off his shirt numerous times, and because Amanda Bynes is hilarious. I think that although Shakespeare's 'Twelfth night' will be challenging, it will be interesting, to see what was considered a "comedy" in his era. In class, we were also told that our act VI and act V annotations will be due on Friday, April 15th, along with a reflection of our annotation process. I had a good time in class on Friday, it was nice to be able to take a break from annotations and 'Romeo & Juliet', and just focus on Channing Tatum get half naked.

  5. Friday's class was simple as we watched She's the Man. I learned that it is connected to Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and I am interested to see how he wrote it. It will be interesting to see the way Shakespeare has created this plot, and how the modern day version of it is compared to it. I reviewed my Act III annotations and came to learn many of the mistakes I made, as well as the things that I did right. I now understand what is expected out of these annotations, and what I need to work on. I misunderstood exactly what Juliet was saying, and in my opinion, I kind of expected it to happen. Friday was a wonderful class.

  6. Pretty much what everyone else has said. I don't feel the need to repeat because Friday was just that simple. Although, I would like to add that I do hope to see how that movie connects to Shakespeare's story.

  7. I agree with all my other classmates, like Tim I don't feel it would be nessecary to repeat what had happened on Friday. However, on Thursday I did in fact learn how to make my annotations better, and how my annotations were lacking or how they were good. Overall, those two class periods were fun, but educational at the same time.

  8. Thanks, guys. I hope that as you complete the common task, you will develop habits that will help you in attacking difficult texts in the future. And Derek, there is no way I can ehlp you to deal with Amanda Bynes' acting skills. See y'all on Thursday!

  9. On Friday, as everyone said, we watched She's The Man which is one of my favorite movies. I'm Interested to see how the movie is different than Shakespear's Twelfth Night besides it's moderness. As everyone said, we learned more about our annotations and what's expected from us about them. Overall, Friday was a good class.

  10. On Friday we watched She's the Man which is one of the most funniest movies i have seen. She's the Man is related to Shakespeare Twelfth Night which i would like to see how they are similar.

Please disreguard my last comment...I didn't mean to post that last sentence. 12. On friday we watched the movie shes the man, based on the shakespearian play "Twelfth night". I have seen this many times but its so funny, that it never gets old. Today we are working on our Act 4 and Act 5 annotations, and blogging.

  13. On Friday we watched the movie She's the Man. I happen to love this movie a lot. I think it's hilarious. I've seen it numerous times and I never knew that it was the modern adaptation of a Shakespeare play. I had never even heard of the play Twelfth Night before this class. I know that when we begin to read Twelfth Night in class it will be difficult, but I'm sure it will be a little bit goofy and hopefully easier to understand since we've all seen the movie. The only thing that I'm afraid of is that I won't get any of the humor in the play. Today I haven't started yet, but I will be working on my Act 4 annotations.

  14. Today, we are working on our Act 4 and Act 5 annotations for our common task and blogging. I have to find a passage for Act 5. I think it might be difficult to find one because the scene if full of a lot of important details.

  15. Today in class we are working on our annotations for acts four and five. Many people were working on the computers or at their desks. It was a very proeductive and helpful day beause I needed to work on my annotations and this time helped me get ahead of everything. Also, I will no be in school on Thursday and Friday.

  16. In class today I worked on annotating my Act IV document. Many of us were working on the computer and constructing solid annotations. I am also trying to find a good part of ACt 5 to annotate.

  17. As many people already said we watched Shes the Man on friday. Since everyone already explained what the movie was about, I dont see a point of me saying the same things. But I guess i'll summerize! Its a modern take on the Shakspearean play Twelfth night. In She's The Man, Viola trades places with her brother to allow herself to play soccer with the boys team. I for one am in love with this movie. So it was nice to watch it again! Today were just working on doing out act 4 and 5 annotations, my goal is to finish both of the rough drafts for them and peer edit with atleast act 4.

  18. As everyone has already said, Friday we watched She's the Man. I love that movie, especially since Channing Tatum is in it and as we all have realized he's beautiful. Anyways, today in class I'm working on my Act IV annotations. Sam and I peer edited and worked together to improve our rough drafts.Once I complete my final annotations for this act, I will pick out a section to annotate from Act V and start those.

  19. As Jessica said, we peer edited with eachother and made good improments on our annoations together. I am also working on my Act IV annotations and hoping to soon get started on my Act V ones too.

In class on Friday we watched She's the Man so we really didnt get anything done. Today in class we all worked on our Act IV and Act V annotations. I had already chosen the passage that I wanted to annotate so when I got to class I sat down and immeadiately started to annotate for Act IV. Jamie and I each edited each others work so that we could both recieve positive feedback.

  21. Today in class I am working on my ACT IV annotations. I would like to fix the mistakes I had made in ACT III, and hopefully can make good annotations. Also, I would like to be able to peer edit with someone today.
I'm workiing on understanding my act IV passage and hopefully be able to pick out my lines for act V.

  22. In class today, I worked on my annotations. I was having a hard time deciding which 20-50 lines I wanted to annotate from acts 4 and 5, but I eventually found them. I tried to work towards interpreting both of the texts and then added annotations after I understood what was happening.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Also i tried to find a good section of Act 5 to use for my act 5 annotations. I also got 7 annotations done in just the first part of the class.
Side note: what is different about the movie from the book is that Romeo kills Paris in the book because Paris was saying to get away from his wife

Today, during class, I reviewed the significant sections of ACT 4 and ACT 5 of Romeo and Juliet. I have selected Act IV, Scene 3, Lines 14-44 of Romeo and Juliet for my ACT 4 annotations, but have yet to select a passage of the play for my ACT 5 annotations. In addition, I edited the final annotation of my ACT 3 annotations and have begun paraphrasing the ACT 4 passage I selected. Tomorrow I plan to complete a more elaborate analysis of the ACT 4 passage I selected, and to select a passage to annotate for ACT 5.

Today I looked over Act 5 and spent the class trying to find a good section to annotate. It was difficult to find a section that had the right amount of lines and had a lot of things to make comments on. I ended up finding a passage that I thought was good for annotations.

  26. Today I finished my Act 4 annotations and all I need to do now is put them on the computer into footnotes. Also I finished reading the last three scenes of Act 5 in Romeo and Juliet. Tomorrow I plan on picking out which passage I will annoatate in Act 5 and start annotating it.

  27. Today in class i finished my act 4 annotations and started my act 5 annotations. I also have a question on what we are supposed to do for the reflective essay?

  28. Today in class I finished my act 4 annotations, and began to look for my act 5 annotaions.

  29. Today we are continuing our Act 4 and 5 annotations. I found a passage for Act 5 to annotate. While annotating, I noticed that it is hard to find a lot of literary devices within the passages. Also, some parts you need to think a lot more about than others because they are either harder to understand or you need to think more in depth about them.

Today in class, I worked on my act IV annotations again. I'm using my time wisely and getting a lot accomplished. I'm planning to finish my annotations tonight, and d my reflection tomorrow.

  31. I am still working on my Act 4 annotations and I'm almost done. Once I finish typing my act 4 annotations I will find a passage in Act 5 to do my annotations on.

In class yesterday we worked on our annotations. I improved my annotations by peer editing because I gave my paper to another person in the class and asked her to tell me what I could do better on. When I got my paperback I found out that my connections from text to world were not that well explained. So I had to go back into my paper and elaborate who my connections made sense and how it helped me/ others understand the text better. So yesterday I improved my ways of making connections.

  33. Today in class I am working on the final annotions of Act IV. Hopefully I can finish them tonight and move onto Act V. 35. I'm sitting here watching Jess have a panic attack right before my eyes. Its not the annotations that we're BOTH freaking out about, its the reflective essay. I strongly believe that I am going to fail this if i dont have more time. The annotations are going really well though! In my personal oppinion, I think that we should have the reflective essay due later on ater vacation, since me and jess are still very confused on what we have to do. Plus, we didnt see you all week, so I think we should take time on friday to go over our annotations and maybe make corrections over vacation and write the essay then? Or better yet not write an essay at all!
Kay, Im done complaining....not really but you get my point
Bye Mrs Picozzi! Have fun at your conference! Me and Jess miss you! xoxo

  36. Today I have been working on my final annotations, the one for act 5. I chose the Friars speech, near the end of the play and im almost done. But i have a question, the reflection is just basically an essay reflecting on our annotating experience right?

  38. Today in class I got a lot of annotations done, was happy that I got this time to get some good annotations done and have my classmates help me. Doug, probably the smartest kid in the world, had a lot of good ideas about annotations as the lines we were annotating were very similar.

  39. ALSO----Is this essay also due friday, or after vacation, as evey in the class is telling me different times.

Today in class I continued to work on my Act IV annotations. I decided to edit my own work so I could fix it and rewrite what I needed to . I also chose the Act V passage that I am going to annotate so that when I am kicked off the computer I can still continue to annotate.

  41. Today I am going to finish my Act 4 annotations and start my Act 5 annotations. I chose to do Act 4 Scene 5 for my annotations, but I haven't decided on what to do for my Act 5 annotations yet. I'm still a little confused about our reflection esays. Are they due on Friday along with all our other work or after vacation?

Today in class I learned that in my annotations did not have enough questions/ inferences. So I added a couple of questions to my entries. The questions were not just close ended ones, most were asked to get the reader to think about the text in a different way. For my inferences I just used the tone I got from reading a text and guessed the emotions the actor playing the certain character was trying to express at the moment. Peer editing seems to have helped improve my annotation skills. Also in class today I finished up my act 5 annotations.

  43. Today we continued to work on our annotations and helped each other to try to get the most out of each other by combining some great ideas. Like Alex D'Aloisio, who is probably the smartest kid on earth, and I worked on our annotation revisions. Class was good and we got a lot done again. Mr. Leech is the bomb.

  44. Today I wasn't really able to get a computer until now, so I decided to work on choosing out a good pair of lines for act V to annotate. I finished my Act IV lines last night, but I was unable to find anyone who could peer edit with me for Act IV. With no class tomorrow, it looks like I will have to edit my own annotations, and write the essay, and hand in everything on FRIday.

Today, during class, I completed my Act 3 summary annotation revisions, as well as the purely interpretive annotations for the Act 4 passage I selected. Tomorrow, I plan to complete the analysis annotations for the Act 4 passage I selected and to complete the majority of my Act 5 annotations. In addition, during class tomorrow, I plan to begin the reflective essay that is included in this assignment.

  48. Alright, during the past two days, I've been working really hard on my annotations that I forgot to respond to this. I have finally finished, and I am happy with what I have. All that is left is the reflection. I really do like annotating since it feels so free, so the reflection should be easy.

On Tuesday, we worked on our annotations pretty much all class. I peer edited with Nicole and and that helped us both see what we did well and what we needed to addd to our annotations. We also talked about what we'd be doing for our reflections. On Wednesday I was absent, but I finished my Act IV annoation and am starting my annotation for Act V. Tonight hopefully I'll finish the rough draft for that annotation and will be able to edit it tomorrow in class and do my reflection.
